OBITUARY

EAST BRIDGEWATER

Alphonse Skipper 81, died May 3rd in the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center after a period of failing health, he was the husband of the late Jennie M. (Metro) Skipper.

Born in Hanson, son of the late Stanley and Mary (Kozlowski) Skippar. He attended East Bridgewater Schools.

Alphonse served in the United States Army during World War II, from 1943 to 1947, a member of the 36th Armored Infantry Regiment he received a Combat Infantry Badge as sharpshooter rifle and 2nd class gunner. After being injured during action in August 1944 and November 1945 he was the recipient of a purple heart.

He was a member of the VFW, DAV and Elks of Middleboro and the American Legion of East Bridgewater.

He worked as a truck driver for the Seaward Company and the Edison Company.

He is survived by his very close nephew Gary Skippar, sister Anna Sparling, sister-in law Eleanor Skippar; also several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Fred and Adolph Skippar

Funeral services will be held Monday May 8th at 11:00 A.M. in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Route 58 at the Rotary Circle) Whitman. Visiting hours Sunday 4-7 PM. Burial will follow in the Northville Cemetery East Bridgewater, Ma. Visit www.blanchardfc.com for directions.
