Obituary

Andrew "Andy" Champignie of Whitman passed on Sunday, November 10th from Dementia.

Born in New Bedford in 1940, he was the youngest male of Edward Champignie and Ethel Champignie (Butler) of Whitman. He grew up in Whitman and graduated from Whitman High in 1959. He was a proud Local 7 Boston Iron Worker for 30 years.

Andy was a proud veteran serving in the United States Army as an MP. He was an avid sports nut. He coached youth baseball, basketball, and soccer for many years. In 2006 he was honored to throw out the first pitch for Whitman Little League opening day season. He never missed any dance recitals or sporting events for any of his children or grandchildren. You would see Andy walking daily around the park and center of Whitman.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his Brother Louis Champignie of Pembroke, Edward Champignie of Kingston, and Emily Champignie of Whitman. He is survived by his loving and supportive wife of over 60 years, Gail Champignie(O'Brien) and their children Tracie Corcoran and her husband Patrick of Hanson, Timothy Champignie and his wife Margaret of Whitman, and Thomas Champignie and his wife Kerry of Whitman. His grandchildren, Timothy Champignie Jr., Shayna Champignie, Zachary Corcoran, Torrey Champignie, Nia Champignie, Cole Champignie, Kelsey Champignie, & two great grandchildren Kennedy Champignie and Timothy Champignie III. Also, his sister Beverly Occhipinti of Raynham.

Family and friends are invited to his visiting hours on November 15th from 4-8 p.m. at Blanchards Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St. (Rt. 58) at the Whitman Rotary. All are welcome to attend the funeral at Blanchards on November 16th at 10:00 a.m. Burial at St James Cemetery in Whitman.
