Obituary

Barbara W. (Zimmerman) Whitenack of Abington, age 87, passed away February 26 in Rockland, MA following a long illness.

She was raised in Waltham, MA, the only child of Phyllis (Wilson) and Frederick Zimmerman, and step-daughter of Earle K. Fox of New Hampshire. A graduate of Waltham High School, in later years she obtained her degree from Leslie College.

Barbara worked most of her life in administrative positions in hospitals, retiring from Braintree Rehabilitation Hospital after many years.

She enjoyed art and music, loved to travel in the U.S. and Europe, and to keep scrapbooks of her life and travels. She supported many charities.

Barbara is survived by her two children: Elizabeth Jacob of Abington and Eric Whitenack of East Bridgewater; five grandchildren: Timothy Jacob and Jessica Jacob of Abington, Samantha Medina of Groton, Sarah Mah of Ayer and Sydnie Whitenack of Whitman; five great grandchildren; her former husband Ernest Whitenack of Mansfield, family and friends.

Visitation will be held at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman, on Friday March 2 from 6:00-7:00 PM, immediately followed by a service at 7:00 PM. A private burial will be held at a later date.
