Charles D
Ponder Jr.
April 22, 2026
Charles David Ponder Jr.,58, of East Bridgewater, MA was called home to the Lord on April 22nd, 2026. Charlie was born August 24th, 1967 in Boston, MA. He was the son of the late Charles D. Ponder Sr. and Marjorie J. (Cole) Ponder. He was a graduate of East Bridgewater High School, class of 1985, where he was rightfully awarded the title of Class Clown.
Charlie was the loving husband of his loving Jane Carol, his high school sweetheart and forever lover. Jane & Charlie were inseparable, together since they were teenagers. They were married for 32 years and raised a beautiful family together in East Bridgewater, MA. He was a romantic soul always bringing his wife flowers, writing poems, or playing sweet songs for his love.
Charlie was a dedicated father to his two daughters Cassie & Delaney. There was nothing more important to Charlie than his family. He never missed a soccer game, lacrosse game, or theatre performance. He always encouraged and supported any hobby, buying art supplies or seeds for the garden. He filled his daughter's childhood with loving memories of trips to Sesame Street, StoryLand, fishing trips, beach days on the Cape, and so much more. But more than that he filled their childhood, their every day lives, and his wife’s life with bliss, love & joy in each day. He was someone they could all depend on when they were sick, when they needed a hug, when they needed advice, or had good news to share - Charlie/Daddy was always the first call. He was a role model & embodied what it means to be a strong man, a protector, a provider, a friend, & a wonderful person to all he encountered. He loved being a father & husband & he truly was the best at it.
Being a dedicated student to “YouTube Academy”, he was a do-it-all kind of guy, always fixing things around the house, repairing cars, learning about spirituality, and even finding new recipes to try. He had great love for his country and its history. You could find him watching videos, documentaries, or doing research online. He was proud of his Mississippi roots, often sharing stories or cooking for loved ones. If something was broken, Charlie would fix it. He was never too busy to help someone out whether they were a family member, a friend, a coworker, or a stranger. Charlie was the most thoughtful & generous person. He gave, expecting nothing in return. He somehow always knew the right words to say & just what everyone around him needed. His smile was warm & infectious, his witty humor lightening any mood, & his perspective curing anyone’s worries.
Charlie had a great love of life. To reference one of his favorite country songs, “Good time Charlie”, made friends wherever he went. Charlie was the kind of man who would not only give you the shirt off his back, but he would express order you a second one from Amazon so you had something to change into later. He was always the funniest guy in the room & everyone gravitated to him. He loved playing country music & attending concerts with his family. If you were with him you were laughing. Charlie worked for many years at Polaroid before starting his career in biotechnology. In his free time he enjoyed hobbies such as playing horseshoes & fishing. In the summertime you could find Charlie manning the grill, smoking ribs, or enjoying a cigar by the fire pit. He enjoyed spending time with his wife on the canopy swing and watching the birds - especially his beloved
“Mr. Hummingbird”. Charlie loved animals, often playing “bally” in the backyard with his dogs. In addition to all the birds he fed, he is missed greatly by his dogs Mabel & Winnie and his cats Mr. Little & Kitty, & is now reunited with his late beloved dog, Ginger & bun grandson Cannoli (Bun Boy/Merp).
Charlie is survived by his wife Jane, his daughter Cassie and her husband Redmond Woodward, and his daughter Delaney, all of East Bridgewater.
