Obituary

Cornelius G. "Putsie" Paulding 84 formerly of Whitman died Friday March 13 in his Plymouth home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband for 58 wonderful years to Valeda "Pudie" (Martin) Paulding.

Born in Brockton he was the son of the late Albert F. and Mary (Horgan) Paulding.

He had been a resident of North Abington, Whitman, and now Plymouth. He and his wife had enjoyed wintering in Palm Beach, FL in recent years.

Putsie was a World War II veteran having served in the US Navy from 1943 to 1946. He was stationed aboard the SS Rockaway and participated in the Normandy Invasion. He was a lifetime member of the Whitman VFW Post 697, the American Legion of Whitman Post 22, the Disabled American Veteran Chapter 76, and served as the Veterans Agent in Whitman for many years.

He was an active member of the town of Whitman, serving as an Assessor until March 2002; he was also a communicant of the Holy Ghost Church, and a life time member of the Knights of Columbus in Whitman. He loved helping people and all his wonderful friends through his work at the assessors' office, the post office, as veteran's agent, hosting dances, carnivals, and bingo at the VFW, and many other countless acts.

He was employed as a mail carrier in Abington, Plympton, and Marshfield before his retirement in 1985.

He loved his home and family and was especially proud of his home in Plymouth which he and his wife built from a forest into a beautiful home on a fresh water pond, and he enjoyed many great times hosting cook outs with friends and family. He especially enjoyed quiet times sitting on the back porch watching sports on TV as well as riding in his boat.

In addition to his loving wife he is survived by his children Mary E. Plasse of Whitman, Michael Paulding and his wife Patti of Whitman, Stephen Paulding and his friend Lauren of Plymouth, Mark Paulding and his wife Lisa of Plympton, and Leo Paulding and his wife Tori of Sandwich, his grandchildren Michael, Patrick, Joshua, Krystal, Robyn, Brooke, Ryan, Shannon, and Casey, his great grandchildren Gabrielle, Adison, Nathan, MacKaylee, and Julianna, his sister in law Leona Harmon and her husband Robert of Bridgewater, his brothers in law Tony Martin and his wife June of Brockton and James Martin and his wife Connie of FL, his two cousins Marjorie Kitchen of Ohio and Carol O'Connor of Attleboro, as well as many nieces and nephews.
