Obituary

Dorris L. (Burrell) Andrews, 93, Tuesday, December 5th died in the Colony House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, after a period of failing health.

She was born in Brockton, a daughter of the late George and Olive M. (Jones) Burrell.


Dorris was a life long resident of Whitman and a graduate of the Whitman High, class of 1931, she was employed in her earlier years at the United Shank & findings(United Shoe Machinery)in Whitman from 1929-1956, then for fourteen years her and her husband owned and operated the Rose Lou Dress shop in Rockland.

Dorris was a very active member of the First Baptist Church of Whitman, also the Eastern Star, Chapter 89 (Pilgrim), and the 89'ers club, Hanson Senior Steppers, Early Bird Bowling League of Brockton, she was also on the former executive board of the Whitman Visiting Nurse Assoc.

Dorris is survived by her step-son, Philip Andrews and his family of Arizona; 2 cousins, William Greene of Middleboro and Marjorie Putney of Weymouth; also her dear close friends, that cared for her, for many years.

Her funeral services will be held Thursday December 7th at 11:00A.M.in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Inc Plymouth Street (RT58 at the Rotary Circle) Whitman Visiting hours omitted by her request. Burial will follow in the Colebrook Cemetery, Whitman, MA
