Earlene Ellen (Murphy) Pickard, 94, of Whitman, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2025, at West Acres in Brockton.
Born on January 26, 1931, in Schenectady, New York, Earlene was the daughter of the late James and Grayce (Ellenwood) Murphy. She was raised in Saratoga Springs, NY, where she attended high school.
In 1954, Earlene married the love of her life, Douglas Pickard. Together they eventually moved to Whitman and lovingly raised their six children. Earlene made Whitman her home for the next 64 years.
A gifted knitter and seamstress, Earlene enjoyed creating handmade clothing for her children. She also enjoyed bowling, baking, and cheering on her favorite New England sports teams. While she faithfully supported the Patriots, she was especially known for being an avid Red Sox fan.
Earlene was predeceased by her beloved husband, Douglas Pickard, who passed in 2001. Her loving daughter Pamela Barnes and her husband Stephen. As well as her son-in-law Jerry Blakeman.
She is survived by her five devoted children: Darrell Pickard and his wife Patty of Middleboro; Holly Blakeman of Whitman; Heather Campbell and her husband Kevin of Raynham; Laurel Bannon and her husband Thomas of Middleboro; and Rudy Pickard and his wife Kathy of Whitman. Earlene also leaves behind 12 cherished grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours for Earlene on Tuesday, December 9th, from 10:00–11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM at Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 at the rotary), Whitman. All are welcome to join the family afterward at 1:30 PM for the committal service at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
