Edward Forrest
Chauncey
d. Oct 12, 2026
Edward Forrest Chauncey, known to many as Ed, Eddie, or affectionately as Chunky, passed away on October 12, 2026, at his home in West Bridgewater, Massachusetts, following a battle with renal failure. He was 79.
Born on April 29, 1947, in Canton, Massachusetts, Ed was the son of Forrest and Dorothy Chauncey. As a young man he taught Sunday school, and he later attended college with his sights set on becoming a CPA. Life, as it tends to do, took him down a winding road. He drove a taxi through the 1970s, worked for Shaw's in the 1980s, and spent the 1990s with Chadwick's of Boston. But it was his fifteen years owning the Lamplight Antique Store in West Bridgewater that truly suited him. An avid, lifelong collector of antiques, Ed never passed up a good yard sale or flea market, and he knew the history of his town as well as anyone, having made a genuine study of West Bridgewater's past.
Ed was witty and sarcastic, always armed with a "Dad" joke and more than a little playfully flirtatious with the ladies. He was frugal and stubborn, a true New England Yankee through and through. When he wasn't hunting for treasures, he was cheering on his beloved Celtics and Red Sox. His favorite rock band was The Doors.
Among life's greatest gifts were meeting the love of his life, Dorothy Regan, raising his son Aaron, and helping to raise Scott Regan as his own.
Ed is survived by his partner, Dorothy Regan; his son, Aaron Joseph Chauncey, and daughter-in-law, Rhonda L. Chauncey; Dorothy's son, Scott and Cassidy Regan; and his cherished grandchildren, Tyler Joseph Chauncey, Rebecca Dora Chauncey, and Sierra Rae Chauncey. He was preceded in death by his parents, Forrest and Dorothy Chauncey, and his brothers, David and Mathew Chauncey.
At Ed's request, no services will be held. A celebration of his life will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to The National Kidney Foundation in his memory. As Ed would have appreciated, we leave you with these words from Jim Morrison: "Death makes angels of us all and gives us wings where we had shoulders smooth as ravens claws."
May he rest in peace.
