Ernest N.
Whitenack
May 26, 2026
Ernest N. Whitenack, 98, of Mansfield, Massachusetts, died on May 26 at West Acres Nursing Home in Brockton from natural causes.
Born in Springfield, Illinois, in 1928, he was the only son of Howard Whitenack and Margaret (Edwards) Whitenack.
Being a bit too young to serve in WWII, he graduated from Waltham High School and served in the Korean War as a radio repairman. After the war, he became a photographer, which later branched into industrial photography, where he had his own studio. After working for Hewlett-Packard’s Medical Electronics Division for ten years, he went back on his own, advancing as an industrial photographer. Through the years, Ernie enjoyed pipe smoking, leather work, and being one of the top players in the Minute Man Dart League. He also loved to watch tennis, westerns, and the Pats.
He was the ex-husband of the late Barbara (Zimmerman) Whitenack and half-brother of the late Dorothy (Woodward) Shea. He leaves behind a daughter, Elizabeth Jacob of Rockland, a son Eric Whitenack of East Bridgewater, five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, June 2nd from 5:00-6:00 PM with a funeral service to follow at 6:00 PM at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, 666 Plymouth St in Whitman. Burial will be private.
