Obituary


George E. Dunphy, 70, of Abington passed away on Monday December 16th in the Hospice House on Turkey Hill in Hingham, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of 47 years to Carol A. (Baranow) Dunphy.

He was born in Dorchester and grew up in Quincy, son of the George D. and Ruth (Connolly) Dunphy .George was a graduate of North Quincy High School, where he meet his wife. He also attended Burdett College.

George worked for First National, Purity Supreme and Stop & Shop for over 40 years as a meat cutter before retiring, He enjoyed traveling, his family and was an avid reader.

In addition to his wife Carol, he is survived by his children, James Dunphy and his wife Robyn of Manchester, NH, Carolyn Tobin and her husband Thomas of Lunenburg, his brother Robert Dunphy and his wife Carol of Hingham, his sister Ruthann Galardi of Swampscott; also his grandchildren, Patrick, Shawn, Brendan, Christopher and Drew

Family and friends are welcome to attend his services on Saturday December 21st at 8:15 from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, followed by a funeral mass at 9:00AM in the St. Bridget Church, Abington, MA. Burial will be in the Colebrook Cemetery, Whitman. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00-8:00PM. Memorial donations may be made in his name to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place West, Brookline, MA 02445
