Geralde Sweeney Buckley born Geralde Frances Sweeney

Geralde/Gerry/Mom/Grandma/Armee/GeeGee were all part of the amazing persona of our mom. Born 1934 in West Roxbury, MA to Lawrence and Gertrude Sweeney with her brother, Jack and Aunt Mil Millett making up their family.

Gerry graduated from Framingham Teacher's College with a degree in Home Economics. Not too many options for a gal in the 1950's even though her own mother had graduated from college in the 1920s. She met our dad, Bill Buckley, at a dance at the Hanson Grange at 16. Eight years later they married. Starting a family in Whitman, MA. Within 3 years they were blessed with 4 kids – Maura, Martin (twins), Beth and Julie.

Despite reaching the pinnacle of a women's life for the 50s and 60s, she wanted more. She obtained her master's in administration at Bridgewater State College. In 1980 she became one of the 1 st woman principals for a high school in the State of Massachusetts when she accepted the role of principal at Whitman-Hanson Regional High School. A job she loved almost as much as she loved her family!

Retirement came for Bill and Gerry in the 90s and they traveled a lot spending time in New Zealand with daughter Beth's family. She even took her skills to the Town of Kingston and sat on the School Committee Board for several years. Her favorite job she said was retirement! Despite losing our dad in 2003, Gerry was still involved in the community with the Kingston
Historical Society and the Kingston Library Association. Gerry was an avid reader and loved living close to the Kingston Library.

10 Grandchildren and 11+ great-grandchildren, she reveled in seeing all their great accomplishments whether big or small. She was a woman of determination and strength of character who loved us all so well. Gerry had many accomplishments to be proud of through the years. The loss of our Buckley matriarch is profound. In lieu of flowers, send donations to
the Kingston Public Library in memory of Geralde/Gerry/Mom/Grandma/Armee/GeeGee.

Family and friends are invited to attend her visiting hours on Friday, December 5th from 5-7pm at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Whitman (RTE 58 at the rotary circle). Saturday, December 6th there will be a funeral Mass at St Mary's Church 10am in Plymouth, 313 Court Street.
