Obituary

Glen Hans Cornell, 76, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Long term resident of Whitman, MA. and recently Lexington, North Carolina. Peacefully passed away at home after a short illness, surrounded by his loving family on July 7, 2026.

Born 1950 in South Weymouth, MA. He was the second son of the late George Cornell and Ruth (Hilstrom) Reardon. Graduate of South Weymouth High School, and earned a degree in electronics from Massasoit Community College. Served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era.

As a young man Glen worked as a veterinary tech and continued his passion and care for animals throughout his life. He became a dedicated employee of 40 years for Verizon as a Radio Telephone Transmission Specialist and served as Shop Steward for IBEW. He enjoyed many activities including competitive candlepin bowling, playing softball, fishing and hunting. Glen retired in 2010 and kept busy with his numerous hobbies of motorcycle riding, woodworking, gardening and beekeeping. He taught beekeeping for the Plymouth County Bee Association for over 10 years. Glen was a devout Catholic of Holy Family Church in Rockland.

He was the devoted husband of the late Joan (Pendleton) Cornell for 47 years. He is survived by his current wife, Lisa Burns Cornell. He leaves behind brothers, George Cornell III and wife Sandra and Gary and wife Carolyn. He was the loving father of Dawn Kane and husband Jeffrey of Rockland, Cheri Cornell and partner Jason Barnett of Carver and Ryan Burns of Lexington North Carolina. He was the beloved Grandfather of Alicia Kane and her fiancee Miranda Angel, Sarah Kane and her fiancee Kylie McKenna and Evan Kane and his partner Dalena Duong. He was the adoring Great Grandfather of Leo Kane.

Visiting hours on Monday, July 13 from 4 to 7 pm at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, 666 Plymouth St. Whitman. Mass on Tuesday July 14, 9am at Holy Family Church 403 Union St. Rockland. Burial will follow at St. James Cemetery, Harvard St. Whitman. Memorial donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society Holy Family Church 403 Union St. Rockland
