Obituary

Gretchen (Greta) F. McCarthy (Wallstrom), 54, of Whitman, Massachusetts died on February 26th at Pat Roche Hospice Home in Hingham after a battle with cancer.

She was born in Quincy, Massachusetts in 1967,and grew up in Abington, Massachusetts. Greta graduated from Abington High School in 1985. Shortly after graduating, Greta began working at Blue Cross Blue Shield, where she proudly spent the next 35 years.

Here, she would go on to organize various charity events and fundraisers. Her favorite was the Making Strides Boston Breast Cancer walk, Toys for Tots, and so many more. She loved crafts, her cats Bruin and Abby, her dog Candy, her family and friends.

Greta is survived by her daughter, Jessica F. McCarthy, her son, Joseph J. McCarthy, and her future daughter-in-law, Cynthia Yurewicz, of Whitman. Loving daughter to Albert C. Wallstrom and the late Fay C. Wallstrom. Dear sister of the late Rebecca L Wallstrom, Jennifer (Wallstrom) and Richard Jamieson of Plymouth, MA and Garrick and Carrie Wallstrom of Mesa, AZ. She also leaves behind her beloved soulmate, Jim Cogswell, her nieces Alexandra Simon, Brenna Hughes and her nephew Casey Hughes as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Family and Friends are invited to attend her visitation in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) on Wednesday, March 2nd from 4pm – 7pm. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 3rd at 10:00am at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel,.
