Harold R. Palm, 89, died Wednesday in the Jordan Hospital in Plymouth, after a period of failing health.
Born in Easton, son of the late Otto and Emelia (Johnson) Palm, he was a graduate of Oliver Ames High School and Franklin Union Institute of Boston.
Mr. Palm was a lifelong resident of Whitman, an electrician for the Forsberg Electrical Company, and then started his own company, Southgate Electrical Company then after retiring he was a supervisor for Harris Weathering Company.
He was a WWII veteran of the United States Navy, he was on Gold Beach in Normandy, during the invasion.
Harold was a member of the Brockton Rotary Club and won the Paul Harris Award.
He was an avid golfer and a member of the Easton and Halifax country clubs. Harold loved to summer in Falmouth
Harold is survived by his wife Lillian (Cook) Palm of Whitman;his two daughters Gaynor O'Brien of North Falmouth and Sheila Solomon of Maryland; his sister Doris Smith of Wareham; also survived by his grandchildren, Erika, Michael and Jared O'Brien, Scott, Aimee and Whitney Solomon. He was also the brother of the late Carl, Gunnar and Everett Palm, Edith Bock and Lillian Norbeck
His funeral will be held Friday, February 2nd at 12:00 noon, in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street, and (Route 58 at the Rotary Circle) Whitman. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts V. A. National Cemetery, Bourne, MA. at 2:15 P.M.. Visiting hours Friday February 2nd 11:00 – 12:00.
