A generous soul who gave selflessly to his family, friends, and strangers who quickly became friends.

John Michael Petrino, 73, of Whitman, passed away on May 8, 2026, with the same quiet dignity with which he lived his life.

John was born on February 12, 1953, to Eino and Emma Petrino. He was predeceased by his wife, Debra (“Debbie”) Petrino. He is survived by his only child, Angela, with whom he shared an unbreakable bond.

He was a devoted and nurturing father who filled his home with love, teaching his daughter the values of hard work, kindness, and compassion. He was a wonderful listener who offered wise advice to anyone in need and brought light, humor, and warmth to every situation.

In his younger years, John loved coaching Little League baseball and umpiring games. Decades later, many friends still affectionately referred to him as “Coach.”

John embodied strength, charm, and wit, and exemplified what it meant to be a loving and present parent. He never missed one of Angela’s basketball or soccer games or practices.

His legacy of love, generosity, and resilience will live on forever in the hearts of his family and friends.

Services will be held on Friday, May 15, at Blanchard Funeral Chapel in Whitman from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

In John’s memory, the family welcomes donations to Massachusetts Corgi Rescue in lieu of flowers.
