Obituary

West Bridgewater-John S. Smedile 59 died after a brief illness on Monday July 7th in the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center.

Born in Boston he was the son of the late Charles and Edith (Clark) Smedile. He was raised in Braintree and was a graduate of Braintree High School. He served in the United States Marine Corp Reserves.

John worked for Verizon for 33 years and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. He has been a resident of West Bridgewater for the last 10 years.

He is survived by his brother Charles Smedile, Jr. of Whitman, his sisters Miriam Gannon of Braintree, Mary Claire Smedile and Judith Lewis both of Whitman, and Susan Berry of NC and many nieces and nephews.

His services will be held Friday July 11th at 8:15 AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman, followed by a mass at 9:00 AM in St. Bridget Church, Abington. Visiting hours will be held Thursday July 10th from 5:00-8:00 PM.
