Joseph “Joe” W. Duncan Sr., 58, of East Bridgewater, Massachusetts passed away unexpectedly on December 21, 2025. He graduated from South Shore Vocational High School in 1985 majoring in carpentry. After graduating from high school, he started working in his trade. He spent the last 35+ years as a successful business owner renovating kitchens and bathrooms.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years Deborah (Carroll) Duncan of East Bridgewater, Massachusetts. His daughter Alyssa Gargano and husband Nicholas Gargano, his grandchildren Gianna Jean and Leo Joseph and his son Joseph Duncan Jr. of East Bridgewater. Brother of Laurence L. Duncan Jr. of Center Ossipee, NH, Carol A. Nelligan and husband Donald Nelligan of East Sandwich, Jacqueline Monturio and husband Kenneth Monturio of Sandwich. His mother- in-law Christine Carroll of Bridgewater, brother-in-law Christian Carroll of Punta Gorda, Fl, sister-in-law Lisa (Carroll) Watson and her husband Christopher Watson. He is predeceased by his parents Laurence L Duncan Sr., Jean C (McCarty) Duncan and his father-in-law Jack Carroll. Joe is survived by several nieces and nephews, Daniel Nelligan, Colleen Nelligan, Tayla (Monturio) Wagenseller, CJ Carroll and Brianna (Carroll) Zwann and his baby girl Lucy, she was the dog he never knew he needed.
Joe has many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He made an incredible impact on many lives and will be deeply missed by all those who knew him. He was the Captain of the ship.
Joe was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. Many memories were made in Jackman, Maine from hunting, snowmobiling and ATVing, including spending time outdoors with his son Joey. He was always there for his family and attended farmer’s markets with his daughter Alyssa selling sourdough bread. It became his second job. He loved playing and seeing his grandchildren, especially reading multiple books whenever asked. From their belly laughs to taking their first steps, he was always beaming with joy whenever around them. Joe worked tirelessly alongside his wife Debbie where they built a successful business renovating homes in the community. Joe and his wife, Debbie, loved traveling together and making unforgettable memories. Joe will always be remembered as a caring, hardworking, loving father and the most selfless person by his family and friends. He was a very special man, and anyone that truly knew him knows that.
Relatives, family, friends are all invited to remember Joe at Blanchard’s Funeral Chapel in Whitman, MA on January 2nd from 3-6PM with a memorial service to follow at 6PM. A private burial will be held at a later date.
