Obituary

Joseph G. Wilson, Jr., 74 of Whitman, died Tuesday October 7th , in the Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital, after a period of failing health. He was the husband of 52 years to Elizabeth (Reade) Wilson of Whitman. Joseph was born and educated in Boston; he was the son of the late Joseph G. and Helena M. (Whooley) Wilson. He was a veteran of the United States Navy , during the Korean War, a member of the VFW Boston and the K of C # 98 in West Roxbury. Joseph was a resident of Whitman for 48 years and worked for the Whitman DPW Water Department for 30 years before retiring in 1999.
In addition to his wife Elizabeth of 52 years, he is survived by his children, Stephen of Milford, Daniel of Fl, Michael of Whitman, Kathryn Spratt of NC, Joseph of Whitman ,Robert of Lowell, John and Mark, of Whitman; his sister ,Barbara Fowkes of Bridgewater; also 16 grandchildren 3 great-grandchildren,3 nieces and 1 nephew.
He funeral services will be held on Friday October 10th at 9:15AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman, followed by a funeral mass at 10:00AM in the Holy Ghost Church , Whitman. Interment will in the MA V. A. National Cemetery in Bourne at 12:45PM.Visitation will be held Thursday Oct 9th from 4:00-8:00.
