Lawrence Owen
Bombardier
Jul 1, 1950 — Oct 9, 2026
Lawrence Owen “Larry” Bombardier, age 76, passed away Friday, October 9, surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness. He was born on July 1, 1950, and raised in Abington by his late parents Carl Bombardier, Joyce (Simendinger) Bombardier and Jeanne (Moynihan) Bombardier.
Larry attended Abington High School and graduated in 1968. He went on to become a master carpenter. He had a long career but never truly retired, continuing to lend his talents to family or friends. He had a deep love of the sea, fishing on his boat and digging clams whenever tides and weather allowed. He also enjoyed cooking and gardening, improving his favorite recipes to a gourmet level and sharing his bounty with family and friends. Larry was a proud parent and grandparent. He spent many weekends of his adult life on the sidelines cheering them on. Spending time doing these things with his loved ones, especially his grandkids, mattered most to him.
Larry is survived by his wife of 50 years, Janie P. (Walsh) Bombardier. He leaves behind his children and their families: Joshua Bombardier and Andria, Kimberlee (Bombardier) Burton and Matthew and Michael Bombardier and Lauren. He is adored by his grandkids: Emily, George, Eric, Madeleine, Anna and Lillian. He was also the loving brother of Leon Bombardier, Patty Callow, John Bombardier, Helen DiLeonardo, Joan Lindahl, Ed Bombardier, Mary Bombardier and the late Cecilia Akins. He will be missed by many beloved in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Larry's visitation on Wednesday, October 14th, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Blanchard Funeral Home, 666 Plymouth Street, Whitman, MA 02382. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, October 15th, 2026, at 10:30 am at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 455 Plymouth Street, Abington, MA 02351. Interment will take place immediately following at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Rockland.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Larry’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the charity of your choice.
