Obituary

Louis Anthony Chighisola III, 49, of Charlotte, NC passed unexpectedly on May 3, 2026 from injuries sustained in a car accident. Lou was born on May 7, 1976, the first son of Louis Chighisola Jr. and Patricia (Carney) Chighisola. He grew up in Plympton, MA, and attended Dennett Elementary School and Silver Lake Regional High School.

Lou was athletic from a young age. He played basketball, soccer and football, but his true passion was baseball. He was a talented left-handed pitcher, ending his senior year season with a 0.00 ERA. He attended a few semesters of college before he was signed by the Cincinnati Reds. He played in their farm system from Billings, Montana to Chattanooga, Tennessee. Lou's family would listen to his games online, and it was an exciting time for the whole family.

Lou went on to spend many years living in Southern California in the neighborhoods of Hermosa and Long Beach. He loved the ocean and the easy going lifestyle of SoCal. He had most recently settled in Charlotte, NC and was enjoying being back on the east coast.

Aside from baseball, Lou loved his family and friends. He especially loved spending Sunday afternoons and holidays at his grandparents’ houses. His memory was exceptional and he loved to reminisce over old stories for as long as anyone would allow. Lou was incredibly smart and his extensive knowledge of sports, music and celebrity gossip was unmatched. He would use his quick wit to shock his friends, make everyone laugh, and create memories that will never leave us.

Louis is survived by his mother Patricia of Plympton; his sister Lauren Quinn and her husband Shane of Kingston; his sister Melissa Chighisola and her husband Sam of Denver; as well as his Grandmother Dororthy Carney, his nephews Ryder and Casey, and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his father Louis Chighisola Jr, brother Robert and grandparents Robert Carney and Louis and Marie Chighisola.

Lou was able to be an organ donor and in death pass on a second chance to others in need.

The family will hold a private service.
