Marie B. (Durante) Barry, 77, of Whitman, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on April 30, 2026. A lifelong resident of the South Shore, Marie was known for her warm spirit, sharp wit, and unwavering devotion to the people and passions she held dear. 

Born to the late Lillian and Galindo Durante, Marie grew up in a close-knit family that shaped her deep sense of loyalty and love. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, John “Jack” Barry, with whom she shared many years of partnership, laughter, and devotion. 

Marie graduated from Quincy High School in 1966 and worked for many years as an accountant at Grossman/Jeld-Wen, where she was respected for her diligence, reliability, and strong work ethic. Marie also volunteered at Milton Animal Shelter. Outside of her career, she was an avid Boston sports fan—never missing a chance to cheer on her teams. 

Family was at the center of Marie’s life. She was the loving mother of Joseph Barry and his partner, Kelly Mann, and the cherished grandmother of Kayson Mann, who brought her immeasurable joy. Marie is also survived by her brother Daniel Durante and his wife Lupe, and by many nieces and nephews who will remember her kindness, humor, and generosity. 

She was predeceased by her siblings William Durante, Constance Durante, Anna MacDougal, and Lillian Durante. 

Marie’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her—through the stories shared, the laughter remembered, and the love she gave so freely.
