Mary Bridget (McEvilly) Nee. 86, of Sarasota,Fl. passed away on June 3, 2026, surronded by her loving family. She was born on Novermber 3, 1939, in Johnstown, Athlone, County Roscommon, Ireland, the daughter of Patrick and Eileen (Gunning) McEvilly.
Shortly after arriving from Ireland in 1957, she met the love of her life, Coleman Nee, at the Irish Dances in Boston. They got married in 1958.
Mary was a proud mother, raising her 8 children. After raising them she went on to work at Radio Shack, Bradlees and running two restaurants. She was very involved with her church and community (Halifax,MA). She served as an Auxillary Police Officer, then a Special Police Officer alongside her husband Coleman. She was honored for her dedicated service volunteering 17 years to the New England/Canada Dinners within the Tri Par Community. She loved the people she worked with as well as those she cooked for.
She is survived by her 8 children ~ son, Anthony Nee and partner Claudia, ~ daughter Anne Marie Barretto and husband Robert, ~ son Norman Nee and wife Lisa, ~ son Paul Nee and wife Lynne, ~ son Coleman Nee Jr., ~ daughter Colleen Nee Kinsman, ~ son Walter Nee, ~ son Eric Nee and wife Karen; 14 grandchildren ~ Shannon, Ciara, Nicole, Bridget, Hannah, Jonathan, Christopher, Ryan, Tara, Michael, Hayden, Coleman III, Lauren, Lily; 5 great- grandchildren ~ Makayla, Thomas, Owen, Liliana and Penelope; her siblings Pj and Teresa McEvilly; Walter and Margaret McEvilly; Anthony and Marie McEvilly; Anne Duncan; Eileen Souza and Bridget and Roger Bean. Predeceased by her husband Coleman Nee, ~ brother John McEvilly, son-in-law ~ Scott Kinsman and brother-in-law ~ Ed Souza and Charles Duncan.
Family and friends are invited to attend Mary's visiting hours Thursday, June 11, from 4:00- 7:00PM at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street ( Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. All are welcome to meet at Blanchard Funeral Chapel Friday, June 12, at 10:00AM and then process to the Our Lady of the Lake Church ( 575 Monponsett Street), Halifax for a funer Mass at 11:00AM. A burial will follow at Center Cemetery, Pembroke.
