Obituary

Mavis I. (Newton) Alger, 91 died Saturday, in the Brockton Hospital, after a brief illness.

Born Brookline, a daughter of the late Isadore and Irene (Field) Newton.

Mrs. Alger was brought up in Weymouth, a graduate of Weymouth High School, class of 1933

She was an accounting clerk for the Town of Weymouth and Fannie Farmer Candy Company for many years.

She was a member of the Eastern Star in Weymouth

She is survived by her daughter Jacquelyn Alger and her husband Daniel DERose of Whitman; step grandmother of Daniel DeRose ;step great grandmother of Jeremy DERose both of Whitman She was also the sister of the late John Newton. Brooks Newton, Kathleen Karwan and Elva Oxton.


A funeral service will be held Wednesday. May 24th at 8:00 P .M, in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel. Inc, Plymouth Street (RT 58 at the Rotary Circle) Whitman. Visiting Hours Wednesday May 24th 6-8.Burial will be at a later date.
