Michael Francis Doherty III, age 82, of Elizabeth City, NC, died at Elizabeth City Health and Rehabilitation Center on Tuesday, December 23, 2025.

 He was born in Abington, MA, on October 28, 1943, to the late Michael Francis Doherty, Jr. and Evelyn Grillo Doherty. Mike was the widower of Nancy Marion Doherty. He served his country honorably as a flight engineer in the U.S. Navy, retiring in 1982.

Mike is survived by his son, Craig N. Doherty; two grandchildren, Stephen Decoasta and Michael Francis Doherty V; two great-grandchildren, Kyle Doherty and Michael Francis Doherty VI; and a brother, Stephen Doherty of MA. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two children, Michael Francis Doherty IV and Sheryl Ann Doherty.

Family and friends are invited to attend Mike's visiting hours on Saturday, May 9th from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM with a 1:00 PM service to follow at the Blanchartd Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. A burial will immediately follow at Fern Hill Cemetery, Hanson.
