Obituary

Paul G. Konarski, 76, of Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2026, after a brief illness.

Born in Wrocław, Poland, in 1949, Paul was the son of the late Stanislaw Konarski and Alina (Niewczas) Konarski.

Paul immigrated to the United States and built a dedicated career with the General Electric Aircraft Engine Group in Lynn, where he worked for 35 years, before retiring.

He was a devoted family man, married for 57 years to his wife, Catherine Konarski. Together they raised a loving family and created countless cherished memories.

Paul is survived by his mother, Alina Konarski; his wife, Catherine (Jacques) Konarski; his children, Catrina (David) Dirubbo, Suzanne Konarski, Paul (Stephanie) Konarski, and Nicholas (Ellen) Konarski; and his cherished grandchildren, Peter and Alina Dirubbo, Ethan, Nina, Cashman, and Levi Konarski. He is also survived by his sister, Danuta Moreira.

Paul loved being a grandfather above all else—his grandkids affectionately called him "Grumpy," a nickname that brought smiles to everyone. He cherished every moment spent with them, whether playing, babysitting, attending sports games, or simply being present in their lives. He would always be found on the sidelines of soccer, football, baseball and hockey games and was always able and willing to put a worm on the hook at the local fishing derby. He looked forward each year to spending his winters in Florida, relaxing in the sunshine. He had a deep love for good food, especially the hearty Polish flavors of his heritage—kielbasa, sausage, and pierogis were always favorites. He always looked forward to the Father's Day cookout every year, mainly for all the delicious food shared with loved ones.

He was a man of quiet strength, hard work, and deep family loyalty, whose proudest legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the generations he helped raise—especially the joy he found in his role as Grumpy.

A private family service will be held.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Paul’s memory-he was deeply impressed by their innovative research and dedicated team.
