Hingham - Paulina M. "Paula" Phillips 87, died unexpectedly at her home in Linden Ponds Estates on Friday June 24.

Born and raised in Whitman she was the daughter of the late Lawrence W. and Ida M. (Landry) Phillips, a graduate of Whitman High School and later was a graduate of business school.

Prior to her move to Linden Ponds a little over a year ago Paulina had been a resident of Pembroke for over 30 years. She had been a familiar name and face around the South Shore area having been a successful self-employed photographer for many years with studios in Rockland and later at her home in Pembroke. She was known for her photographs in and out of her studio for schools, proms, wedding, reunions and girl scouts.

She was a member of the Brockton Ski Club and had enjoyed cross country skiing and even after being diagnosed with paraplegia, did not slow down. She loved to travel, and had taken many trips and adventure canoe rides. She was an avid fan of PBS, loved listening opera and attending the Boston Ballet. She had enjoyed her many Thanksgiving dinners at the Halifax Country Club, Christmas dinners at the Church Hill Methodist Church in Norwell and Sunday dinners with her family.

She is survived by her sister Louise I. Schram and her husband John of Rockland, her sister-in-law Helen Phillips and many cousins, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews, She was her predeceased by her brother Lawrence Phillips.

Her funeral service will be held Thursday June 30 at 7:30 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. A private burial will be held at a later date. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 6:00-7:30 PM.
