Obituary

Phyllis E. (Look) Dodge Flood beloved mother, 99, of Whitman, Massachusetts died on July 3, 2026 at St. Joseph Manor, Brockton after a long illness.

Born in Whitman, Massachusetts on February 21, 1927 Phyllis was the third daughter of Arthur and Bertha (Studley) Look. Phyllis graduated from Whitman High School in 1944 and went on to cosmetology school at Wilfred Academy in Boston. After graduating, she worked as a hairdresser in Brockton until openin Phyll's Beauty Box, on Day St in Whitman. Phyllis loved making people feel good by doing their hair and serving coffee and homemade cookies, hermits, Whoopie Pies, and the like, to ladies who were "under the hair dryer". Phyllis also loved to bake for family and her famous Apple Pie was everyone's favorite. In her spare time, she knit numerous baby sweater sets, hat and bootees included, for anyone expecting a baby. She also made adorable smocked dresses in various colors and sizes for little girls.

Phyllis and her late husband and father of her four children, Harold T. Dodge, (married in 1947-1990) spent many years at their cottage in New Silver Beach, Falmouth, Mass. They loved going to the cottage and beach was the best place to relax and enjoy the family. As the children grew up Phyllis and Harold took many trips using their RV to travel across the US, the last trip being Alaska.

After losing Harold to cancer, Phyllis married the late Robert Flood (married 1992-2007) of East Bridgewater. They had many years together and traveled to Florida, California and many other states in the RV.

Phyllis is survived by her children Sharon A. (Dodge) Mather and her husband George of Raynham; Jeffrey A. Dodge and his wife Rachel (Faria) Dodge of Mashpee; Julie B. (Dodge) Rotondo and her husband James of North Falmouth; Christopher E. Dodge and his wife Barbara (Siltanen) Dodge of Florida; 13 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren; 5 great, great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Phyllis is a member of the United Methodist Church in Whitman and the Order of the Eastern Star, Pilgrim Chapter No. 89, East Bridgewater, Massachusetts.

Family and friends are invited to visiting hours on Sunday, July 12th from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. A funeral service will take place July 13th at 12:00 PM at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel. A burial will immediately follow at Colebrook Cemetery, Whitman.
