Obituary

Raymond G. Schnyer, 90, of St. Petersburg, Fl., formerly of Whitman and West Yarmouth, died Sunday June 8thin Florida, after a period of failing health. Born in Worcester and raised in Whitman. Ray was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth (McGrath) Schnyer of 64 years. He was the son of the late George and Cecile(Shaw)Schnyer. He was the brother of Geraldine Conway and the late Anna Clark, Ralph, Bernard and Marian Straffin. Ray worked for many years as bulk sales manager for Walter Baker Chocolate Company of Dorchester, retiring to West Yarmouth to own and operate the Castle Dawn Motel.
Ray was the father of Richard E. of NH and N. Fort Meyers, Fl., John R. of Hanover and Yarmouth, William A. of Venice Fl., Gary M. and Mary E. Riddle both St. Petersburg Fl. David G. of Skaneateles, NY., and the late Martin T. of NH; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

His services will be held Friday June 13th at 9:15 AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman, followed by a 10:00 AM funeral Mass in the Holy Ghost Church Whitman. Burial will follow in the St. James Cemetery, Whitman. Visitation will be held on Thursday June 12th from 4:00 – 8:00 PM.
