Obituary

Richard Francis Ross, Jr. 59, of Hanson, Massachusetts passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on December 15, 2025.

Born in Malden, Massachusetts on August 21, 1966, son to Richard F. Ross, Sr. and Donna (Darling) Ross. Richard graduated from Whitman-Hanson Regional High School in 1984. Following graduation, he furthered his education and love for hockey at North Country Community College. He continued at University of Massachusetts- Boston, then finished off his education at Anna Maria College with his Masters in Criminal Justice. Richard started and ended his over 20-year career as a correctional officer, being promoted to Sergeant at the Suffolk County House of Corrections. From correctional officer to family man, all were roles that reflected his strong sense of duty, courage, and commitment to others.

For over the past 25 years Richard lived bravely with Parkinson’s disease. Throughout his long and difficult journey, he showed extraordinary strength and perseverance. Despite the challenges he faced, he never gave up- remaining a steady, loving presence and inspiration to those around him.

Richard’s lifelong love for hockey, a sport that brought him so much joy and reflected his competitive spirit and determination. Whether on the ice or at home, he approached life with heart and grit.

He is survived by his loving wife Regis (Kingston) Ross of 34 years. His loving children, Connor Ross and his wife Lauren Ross, Makenzie Ross and future son in law Timothy Reardon, Shane Ross, and Nolan Ross. Richard is also survived by his brothers Michael Ross and his wife Jennifer Ross of Hanover, and Christopher Ross and his wife Amy Ross of Hanson. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and loved ones.

Richard’s visiting hours will be held on Friday, December 19th from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association. Donations can be received by mail, phone, or online.
