IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert B.
Park
February 23, 2026
Robert Benson Park of Hanson, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2026 surrounded by his loving family.
Born April 24, 1948, to Robert Lothrup Park and Ethel Benson Park, Bob grew up in South Weymouth. He was active throughout his youth in Boy Scouts and graduated from Weymouth High School. Bob then attended Northeastern University School of Business.
Shortly after starting at Northeastern he met Eleanor Murray and they have been together ever since. After graduating he and Eleanor were married in June 1971. They have lived in Hanson, MA, for 51 years.
At home, Bob was rarely without a project to tackle, inside the house or out in the yard, and those who knew him smile remembering how duct tape was his preferred tool. He enjoyed long walks around the neighborhood with his wife, and actively barbecuing regardless of the season. For many years Bob enjoyed sailing and canoeing on College Pond in Plymouth and was fond of both visiting maritime museums and reading related historical books.
Professionally, Bob adeptly led as Manager of the Graphics Department at the U.S. Department of Transportation, Volpe Center, in Cambridge throughout his career.
During retirement, he and Eleanor continued their shared interest in visiting museums and historic sites. They traveled throughout Europe, Hawaii, Alaska, and New Zealand along with many US states. Bob was an avid travel researcher pouring himself into studying details of all the wonderful locations the couple visited. Along with Eleanor, Bob ventured to numerous National Parks, and traveling often to the Pacific Northwest to visit their daughter Amy and her family. Beyond travel, Bob was a regular fixture at his grandchildren’s school events, games, and concerts where he proudly admired their achievements.
Bob is survived by his wife, Eleanor; his three children, Amy (and Thomas George) of Newcastle, WA, Michelle (and Cristyan Cadena) of West Roxbury, Steven (and Nicole Park) of Wellesley and his five grandchildren: Javier, Sebastian, Ivy, Wyatt, and Rowan. He is also survived by his brother David (and Deborah Park) of Mattapoisett, his sister-in-law Priscilla Park of NC, and several nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by his parents and his brother, William Park.
Visiting hours are planned for Sunday, March 1st, from 1:00-3:00 PM with a funeral service to follow at 3:00 PM at Blanchard’s Funeral Chapel, 666 Plymouth Street (Route 58 at the Whitman Rotary), Whitman, MA. Burial will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Hanson Food Pantry, 228 High Street, Hanson, MA 02341 or a charity of your choice.
