Obituary

Sheila C. Ware, of East Bridgewater Massachusetts, formerly of Whitman, passed away unexpectedly on May 5, 2026, at the age of 79.

Born on July 8, 1946, in Weymouth, Massachusetts, Sheila was the beloved daughter of the late James and Catherine (Kelleher) Cronin. She graduated from Rockland High School in 1964.

Sheila was the loving sister of Connie Danaitis, Maryellen Chandler, and Joseph Cronin. She was predeceased by her brothers, David Cronin and Kevin Cronin.

She was the devoted mother of Tracey Smith of Plymouth, MA and Tara Grohe and her husband, Kevin Grohe, of Powell Ohio. Sheila was predeceased by her beloved son, Rick Ware. She was the proud and loving grandmother of Erik Smith and his wife Samantha Smith, Jamie Lanoie and her husband Colin Lanoie, Jake Smith, Nicholas Farren, Kayla Grohe, Ryan Grohe, and Jack Grohe. She also leaves behind four cherished great-grandchildren: Casey, Jax, Juniper, and Lyla.

Sheila worked for many years as an administrative assistant and was loved by all who knew her, including her many extended family members and dear friends. She was known for her kindness, compassion, and generosity, always putting others before herself. 

Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were truly her whole world. Sheila rarely missed an opportunity to cheer them on at sporting events, school functions, and special occasions. She treasured her yearly Christmas visits with family in Ohio.

Sheila enjoyed shopping, spending time with family and friends, and staying connected with the many people she cared about through daily phone conversations. She never forgot a birthday and was known for always sending a thoughtful card and gift.

A devoted Boston Bruins fan and lover of New England sports, Sheila could often be found watching a game, enjoying a Hallmark movie, or sharing a lobster dinner with friends and family.

Sheila’s warmth, thoughtfulness, and unwavering love for her family and friends will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Family and friends are invited to attend Sheila's visiting hours on Sunday, May 10th from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. All are welcome to the funeral home on Monday, May 11th at 9:45 AM before proceeding for the funeral Mass at 10:30 AM at the Holy Ghost Chuch, Whitman. A burial will immediately follow at Holy Family Cemetery, Rockland.
