Obituary

Whitman – Sophie (Dolabany) Iverson 82 died Monday February 9 after a period of failing health.

Born and raised in Boston she was the daughter of the late George and Jameeli (Nounou) Dolabany and a graduate of the High School of Practical Arts in Boston.

Prior to her move to Whitman four years ago, she had been a 40 year resident of Saugus, and had worked as a teller for Eastern Bank for 20 years.

As a Whitman resident she had been active at the Senior Center and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hanson.

Sophie had truly enjoyed the time spent with her family and many friends.

She is survived by her daughter Teresa Lander and her husband Greg of Whitman, her grandchildren Brandon, Anna and Ryan Getzinger, her step grandchildren Catie Schoenfarber and Elliot and Eric Lander and her step great grandchildren Hayden and Avery Schoenfarber and Taylan and Takoda Lander. She was predeceased by her siblings Fathala "George" Dolabany, Celia Errante, May Dolabany and Ruth Fermo.

Her memorial service will be held on Saturday February 21st at 2:00PM in the First Baptist Church of Hanson, 214 Main Street, Hanson, MA 02341. In lieu of flowers donations in her name may be made to the Whitman Senior Center, 16 Hayden Ave, Whitman, MA 02382 or to the First Baptist Church of Hanson, 214 Main Street, Hanson, MA 02341.
