Obituary

Stefan J. Smith, passed away peacefully at his home Friday June 27th. He was the beloved husband of Nancy L. (Hollenbeck) Smith and devoted father of Lindsay J. (Smith) Leighton.

Born in Scranton, PA he was the loving son of Helene (Porter) Smith of Weymouth and the late Rev. Lynn C. Smith. He was raised in Medford and was a graduate of Weymouth High School. He attended Northeastern University and became a dedicated Medical Technologist at New England Medical Center for 35 years. He was a former member of the NE Clinical Ligand Society.

He was longtime resident of Whitman, and an active citizen of the town.

He celebrated opening season of fishing annually since 1969 with his longtime friends Danny, Mark, and Tommy. He loved all nature and spent many weekends in Maine with his friends.

He was an avid reader and Boston sports fan.

Stefan was a devoted husband and father, and a loving son and brother.

In addition to his wife and mother he is survived by his daughter Lindsay Leighton and her husband USMC Corporal Aaron Leighton of Quantico, VA, his brother C. Jason Smith of Whitman, his sister Lynda Saviano of Halifax, and his Uncle Hale and Aunt Alice Porter of Montrose, PA. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, one great niece and one great nephew.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday July 2nd at 7PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman. Calling hours are omitted by request of the family.
