Obituary

William "Bill" F. DeRusha, 77, of Bridgewater, Massachusetts, passed away on October 5 at South Shore Hospital following a long health battle. 

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1949, Bill was the second son of Charles H. DeRusha and Marjorie (Churchill) DeRusha. He graduated from North Quincy High School and enjoyed a long career at Gillette in South Boston, where he worked as a machinist. Later, he transitioned to a role in plant security, remaining with the company until his retirement.

In retirement, Bill found his greatest joy in spending time with his family and his beloved dog, Milo. He was known for his quick wit, sense of humor, and gift for storytelling. Bill loved making people laugh and cherished time spent with family and friends. He often fondly recalled his days aboard The Valhalla, sharing stories and memories from those special times.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Janet A. (Morrow) DeRusha; his sons, Richard C. DeRusha and his wife, Brianne Caruso, and Adam DeRusha and his fiancée, Julia Coletta; and his cherished grandchildren, Aria Rose and Austin Richard. Brother of the late Charles DeRusha and his wife Shiela (Lydon) DeRusha, their sons Martin DeRusha and Kenneth DeRusha and the Late Charles DeRusha. He also leaves behind many relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours Friday October 9 th from 5-7 pm at Blanchard Funeral Chapel, located on Plymouth Street at the Route 58 rotary in Whitman.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill's memory to The Parkinson's Foundation.
