Abington – William D. Pool, a longtime resident of Abington, died Saturday July 28 after a lengthy illness.
Born and raised in Whitman he was the son of the late David A. and Jennie G. (Johnson) Pool and had attended Whitman Schools.
After leaving school, Bill had briefly worked in the shoe industry. He went on to work for over 19 years for the former Wilbert Vault Company of Whitman and was a member in good standing of the Teamsters Union, Local #653. Prior to his final retirement he had also worked for Olson's Tool & Die Company of North Abington before it relocated out of state.
He is survived by his brother Charles E. Pool of Abington and his sister Dorothy (Pool) (Sibley) Fields of Florida as well as several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late James Pool.
His funeral service will be held Thursday August 2 at 10 AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel (Rte. @ the rotary) Whitman. Burial will follow in the St. Patrick Cemetery, Rockland. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday August 1 from 4-7 PM.
